(More customer reviews)I ordered this bird feeder because the starlings were getting into the other new one I recently purchased.I had had one similar to this one and only the woodpeckers ate at it.However, that old one that eventually fell apart did not have a shelf at the bottom nor were the wires quite so strong.As a result, although it's a well-made bird feeder, the starlings that it attracts keeps the woodpeckers from returning.If what you want is woodpeckers I think your best bet is to get one where the birds feed upside down.According to what I've read on line the starlings can't do this or at least not well enough to go for the suet.
